Linyi's Blog

About

Hi, I’m Lin Yi — here’s the story of how I got into building things.

My parents first, then the internet, opened my eyes to the possibility of building.

At seven, a cartridge game console brought Contra and Super Mario into my childhood. Soon after, our first home computer introduced me to online forums, where I saw all kinds of fascinating things. I kept wondering how all of this worked, murmuring “Cool, how?”, though I didn’t take any action back then.

College brought C and Linux — my official entry into computer systems. I then learned Java, Docker, K8s, built a cloud platform with OpenStack, and finished my first Java web project. Computer networks, computer organization and CSAPP helped me piece together how computers operate. Every layer I uncover reveals just how much more there is to understand.

I jotted down private learning notes in college, only legible to myself. After graduation, I started writing public technical blogs.

LLMs and agents are changing software development. I’ve begun building software with AI.

I’m passionate about technology and eager to uncover its inner workings.

Now, as a fresh software engineering graduate, I keep exploring and documenting my journey on this blog.
